About UOXF
The Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences (PHC) is a top-ranked centre for academic primary care in the United Kingdom (UK). It leads a range of world-class research and training to rethink the way healthcare is delivered in general practice and other primary care settings, both across the UK and globally. Integrating evidence and innovation, the department’s research focuses on enhancing prevention, early diagnosis, management of common illnesses and workforce delivery. The department consists of general practitioners (GPs) and primary care clinicians, alongside many other academics, including psychologists, epidemiologists, health service researchers, sociologists, and public health academics.
The Oxford Social Prescribing Research Network (OXSOP) is part of this department. It is an interdisciplinary team focused on improving health and well-being through evidence-based research and innovation. Team members work closely with the public and patients, clinical providers, the voluntary-community sector, policymakers and other researchers to understand:
- Different perspectives of social prescribing
- Workforce issues associated with social prescribing
- How patients’ health and wellbeing can benefit from social prescribing
- The mechanisms through which services involved in social prescribing can be delivered optimally
- Equity and social prescribing
Members of this group from the Centre for Evidence-Based Medicine (Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences) are leading the qualitative component of the SP-EU project and supporting its process evaluation.
