About UKE
The Department of General Practice and Primary Care (German acronym: IPA) at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (German acronym: UKE) is recognised as a leading centre for academic general practice and primary care. Our mission is to advance general medicine as an integral part of healthcare by delivering excellent research, outstanding teaching, and patient-centred care. Through interdisciplinary collaboration and the development of innovative, sustainable care models, we position ourselves as a reliable partner in healthcare research and clinical practice.
Within our institute, our team focuses specifically on promoting evidence-based medicine and developing guidelines for the management of multimorbidity and chronic diseases. We integrate social and psychosocial aspects into primary care and employ innovative teaching methods to prepare our students for the challenges of modern healthcare landscapes.
In the SP-EU project, the IPA is actively involved in several key tasks. We support the recruitment of study sites and the initiation of randomised controlled trial (RCT) hubs, working closely with Charité and other European partners. A particular focus is on the training of link workers and the monitoring of study facilities to ensure that both qualitative and quantitative research goals are achieved. We emphasise the sustainable implementation of the insights gained into general practice.
