About UBERN
The Bern Institute of Primary Health Care (BIHAM) was founded in 2009 as part of the University of Bern (UBERN) and is dedicated to advancing primary healthcare through education, research, and academic development. As part of the University of Bern, BIHAM plays a key role in training the next generation of general practitioners, researchers, and educators in primary care. The institute focuses on establishing the academic foundation for a modern, integrative, and patient-centred healthcare system, ensuring high-quality care through innovation and evidence-based practice.
Within BIHAM, our research group specialises in conducting clinical trials for vulnerable patient populations, including individuals in prisons, older adults, and those experiencing psychological distress. Our work aims to generate robust scientific evidence to improve healthcare strategies and interventions tailored to these at-risk groups. By addressing the unique challenges faced by these populations, we contribute to more inclusive and equitable healthcare solutions.
In the SP-EU project, BIHAM is part of Working Group 5, which focuses on the co-creation of social prescription intervention, especially for older adults living alone. Additionally, BIHAM serves as an RCT Hub, where eligible participants will be recruited, randomised, and followed up for 1 year.
