About CHARITÉ
The Institute of General Practice and Family Medicine at Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin, Europe’s largest university hospital, is dedicated to developing primary care models that offer optimal treatment for ambulatory patients. With a strong research focus, the Institute provides medical students with a comprehensive understanding of general practice and ambulatory care through innovative teaching concepts. Additionally, the Institute closely collaborates with 400 teaching practices in Berlin and Brandenburg and maintains a large network with healthcare stakeholders nationwide.
The Urban Primary Care Research Group addresses the challenges faced by the healthcare system in urban areas, such as high population density, diverse populations, and fragmented local healthcare and social care services. Utilising both qualitative and quantitative research methods, the group works interdisciplinarily and transdisciplinarily, involving other disciplines, patients, and local stakeholders in the districts.
The Charité team leads the SP-EU consortium, coordinating the project and providing scientific support across various work packages. In the clinical trial, they act as the Trial Sponsor, with Prof. Dr. Wolfram Herrmann serving as Principal Investigator. They manage and coordinate the initiation and conduct of the trial, ensuring strict adherence to scientific standards.
