EQUICARES: Community-driven Healthcare Access and Mental Health Promotion for Inclusive, Equitable, and Resilient European Societies
- Website: equicares-project.eu
- Contact: info[at]equicares-project.eu
- Grant Agreement ID: 101156500
EQUICARES improves access to sustainable mental health and care services for people in vulnerable situations through research, co-creation, and policy solutions. The project applies innovative methodologies, including an advanced Levesque framework, computational social sciences, and cost-analysis techniques to assess inequalities and design effective solutions. Using digital ethnography, EQUICARES maps and evaluates innovative mental health solutions, compiling insights into a dedicated atlas for policymakers. Piloting in eight areas across seven countries, it engages communities through Smart Health Labs to co-design and implement solutions. EQUICARES also introduces an AI-based assistant to enhance digital literacy and mental health access. The project tests the impact of its solutions, replicates successful models in four additional regions, and provides evidence on the cost of inaction. Finally, an inclusive mental health & care policy dashboard ensures sustainability and long-term policy adoption. EQUICARES is shaping a future where mental health services are inclusive, accessible, and innovative.

SERENA: Assessing and improving access to health and social care SErvices for children RENdered vulnerable by Abuse
- Website: serena-horizon.eu
- Contact: communication[at]serena-horizon.eu
- Grant Agreement ID: 101151854
Effective support for maltreated children: Child maltreatment remains a widespread and underreported issue across Europe with devastating impacts on victims and society. Despite existing health and social care services, many children continue to face barriers to accessing timely and effective support. The long-term effects of maltreatment, including physical and mental health issues, often worsen due to poor detection and inadequate care pathways. Furthermore, the societal and financial burden of child maltreatment remains high. The EU-funded SERENA project aims to improve access to services across Europe. Through assessments of current barriers to access, SERENA will identify key actions to improve maltreatment detection and management and reduce long-term consequences. The project will generate recommendations to influence policy and practice.
HPV-FASTER-Implement: Offering combined HPV vaccination and HPV test-based cervical screening to vulnerable populations. A hybrid efficacy and implementation study

- Contact: coming soon
- Grant Agreement ID: 101155975
Bridging gaps in cervical cancer prevention: Cervical cancer remains a public health challenge, particularly for vulnerable populations who face limited access to healthcare services. While human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination and screening programmes have reduced mortality rates, these efforts have plateaued, exacerbating inequalities within the European healthcare system. Vulnerable groups face unique barriers to maintaining both mental and physical health, further complicating prevention efforts. Addressing this issue requires tailored, innovative strategies. The EU-funded HPV-FASTER-Implement project will develop a Europe-wide knowledge framework and tools to monitor the evolving needs of at-risk populations. Collaborating with stakeholders, the project will implement combined HPV vaccination and screening interventions, health education campaigns, and data-driven policy recommendations to accelerate progress toward cervical cancer elimination.
